busy as a...

I have been busy as a little bee. We started school last week and it has left me little energy in the evenings to write. Yes, I homeschool my youngest two and the days are filled with reading, exploring, researching, creating, writing, drawing, hiking, swimming, singing, experimenting, hypothesizing and thinking. And then comes September when school starts and it is all the same…just in a bit more organized fashion with a lesson plan to boot! : )

With a lot of prayer, strong coffee and good sleep we’ve been off to a great start. I am blessed with eager learners and wonderful teachers in my life!

When straightening up the back yard last night I saw this little, white butterfly floating in our kiddie pool. I skipped back in the house, grabbed the camera and snapped a couple pictures of it. I liked the white against the blue background. It looked very peaceful.

The next morning, the boys scampered out into the yard and my youngest told me to come and see what was floating in the pool. I looked and said, “Aw, poor butterfly, it looks like it had a hurt wing. I guess it just didn’t make it!” I went back to what I was doing, when I soon heard my son squeal and say, “It is alive! Look, Mom, it’s flying!” I rushed back and sure enough, there was the butterfly flittering around. My youngest had reached his little hand under the moth and gently lifted him out of the water.

Never give up.

Sometimes all one needs is a little hand.

I think I can, I think I can...

Ooooooooh…I borrowed my mother's sewing machine! I forgot how lovely it is to sew. The creative juices are flowing yet again! I love it!

It has been years since I sewed something other than a pillow case for the boys. I just might have to whip up a cute skirt for myself! But first things first! For some reason, my youngest thinks I can actually sew and has been asking me for months to make him a cape. I put it off long enough and finally I am sitting down to see if I can even remember how to thread the machine. It is all coming back (slowly) so we’ll see! Pictures of my boy whizzing past my camera wearing some sort of cape…will be taken soon, then posted. I promise.
